Yesterday I had a small stack of papers that I wanted to get put in their right places so I decided to tackle that small task. Inside the pile I found a package of poppy seeds. That's right I took them to the potting shed and decided that I needed to go through my other seeds to see what was there. Yes I did. I started to clean the potting shed and before I knew what was happening I had emptied about half of what was in there into the back yard. I washed walls, vacuumed the floor, moved all the furniture around so I could get behind it and threw away non essentials and just plain trash. It was 6PM before I got everything cleaned and put back. Now I have to do the other half. NUTS!!!!
Ronnie washed the van after our trip to Winterset. It looks fantastic. Today he is outside trimming trees on a ladder. I hate when that happens.
I am doing laundry and a little mending. Should get back to the shed but it will be there waiting for me.
The weather is outstanding and you would think it was late fall instead of late summer. Cool and dry today.
We are enjoying the fruits of our labor after many working years. This is a daily, weekly or "whatever and whenever it happens" blog to share what we are doing, or have done, at any part time or date.

Yesterday we met Fran and Jim in Winterset for a fun day together. It was a bit misty and very cloudy but it did not dampen our spirits. We started the day at Maid Rite for a little lunch and then headed for our first cache. It was a drive by. A mail box on a fence in the alley. Fun and quick and a great way to start the day. From there we went into some wet weeds to find a micro cache that was very wet and we could not sign the log. Two opposite side of the spectrum.
On our way to visit the Roseman bridge where the movie "Bridges of Madison County" was shot we stopped for a quick cache at the aquatic center. This one was a traditional cache and we left a travel coin. The bridge was very interesting and after a good look at the view we went into the souvenir shop and got a few facts from a local. Very interesting place and fun to visit.

We headed back to town to the John Wayne Museum and birthplace. Also a very unique little place with a lot of info. There was a cache on the property and the logs said there were two travel bugs there. Much to our sadness someone just before us took them both.

We then visited the Fons and Porter quilt shop and of course I bought a yard of material. Not sure what I will do with it but I loved it and so must have it.
Because it was misty, after we finished here we had a little snack that was intended for a park in the car. Now we are off to our first virtual cache. It was a trip up a winding, narrow road to a tower. The trip up was pretty and it reminded me of a smaller version of a castle in Ireland. What a beautiful view and sure glad we did not miss this one.

Time to head to Waukee where we all had dinner and a tour of Cindy and Craig's new home before we headed to our own homes. Things are really shaping up for the Carlsons.
What a fun day. Can't wait to do it again.

Well, the house is officially painted and the spare bedroom has had all furniture removed, wiped down walls and doors and mop boards and used a little Liquid Gold. I rearranged all of the furniture and cleaned drawers in the desk and dresser. (well there is still a small box hidden in the closet that I will do today)
Joyce called in the afternoon and I invited them for dinner last night. We had a couple of drinks and grilled brats. Also had sweet corn for one of the last times this season. We had such a nice visit and Joyce and Dick stayed until about 9:30PM. We should really do that more often. It is such fun to reminisce with friends of over 30 years.
Today I will finish that box that I hid in the closet before Joyce and Dick came and plan for a big day tomorrow with Fran and Jim in Winterset. I did not know it until last night that Winterset is the home of Fons and Potter. Famous for quilting supplies. I think we must visit.
God is so good and we are so blessed.

Yesterday Ronnie mowed and started painting the trim on the potting shed and the "man" shed. It was in need of some touch up. You know when you look at something everyday you sometimes lose focus on how it really appears. Thinks are really shaping up around this place. I did some bathroom cleaning and scrubbed the floor in the main bathroom.
Bill and Judy Byrne stopped for a visit yesterday afternoon and we had coffee and a little afternoon snack with them. We were so glad they stopped and before we knew it the afternoon was gone and it was nearly time to fix dinner - spaghetti and meatballs, green salad and garlic bread. Last night while we watched our soap we ate the last pieces of peach pie. It was so yummy. Can't beat those Missouri peaches.
Today Ronnie is back at the trim and I am starting to clean the spare bedroom from top to bottom. I am a multi-tasker though so you never know where I will end up. :)

It is a beautiful Sunday morning. We went to Mass here in Moorland and had a great sermon on the covenant of marriage. Totally made me think of Cathy, Mary Jane and Msgr Bleich. They once gave us a framed copy of "Marriage Takes Three".
After Mass we went to Olde Boston for brunch - Yummy cinnamon rolls - love them. We saw Bill and Judy there and had a little visit with Bill and Grace. She does love to see me and talk for awhile.
We also hit Menards while we were in town and got a gallon of paint so Ronnie could finish the house. Looking forward to a nice quiet afternoon.
