Wow I had the siliiest dream this morning just before waking. I dreamt that I was staying in a hotel that had no elevator. My room was on the 7th floor. Rooms actually opened (no walls) onto the stairway. I got to my room stepped out for a moment and realized my key was inside. Had to take the 7 flights to get another key. On the way down a bed had slipped part way across the stairs and I had to move it back into the room. When I reached the bottom there was jewelry hanging (with scotch tape) on a wall. One piece fell and the lady in charge tood the jewelry and gave me another key. Up the steps I went only to realize I had left the key down on the desk. Back I went. Thank goodness I woke up at this point or I probably would have needed another night's sleep before I could get started.
I wonder what causes such wierd dreams!!!!!
We are enjoying the fruits of our labor after many working years. This is a daily, weekly or "whatever and whenever it happens" blog to share what we are doing, or have done, at any part time or date.

Busy Day
We were busy around here today getting things ready for the upcoming weekend. We have the beds ready for the grandkids, the house dusted and vacuumed and all that is left is a little cooking. I made my menus and a grocery list so it looks like we will be going to town first thing tomorrow morning.
I did a little more quilting and made it half way around the edge of the quilt. Still having trouble with the corners.
This evening we grilled chicken and it was yummy. Ron is the master at grilling the chicken. I think all eating tomorrow will be from leftovers in the refrigerator.
Last night we heard from our friends the Nelson's. They are pretty excited about Jim's upcoming retirement and the fact that they will be joining us at Bit-O_Heaven this winter. I talked to both Dan and Cindy today. Sounds like all will arrive on Saturday morning.
We had a guy look at the bathroom today and I think he is the one. He will do the preparation and finishing work and another guy will put the tub in. We will stop tomorrow to look for the new tub or shower. They suggested that we go to Plumb Supply so that is what we plan to do.
Fun day. Not looking forward to going back to work Monday.

Not too much going on around this place today. Just a couple of folks doing their thing. We started off the morning by going outside and getting things started in this yard. Winter was hard on it and we had lots of big branches in the yard when we got home. I spread the weed killer and grass feeder over the whole yard. Good job to have done. Now we will have to put the next step on in about 6 weeks. Got an excellent buy at Menards and so we were able to get a $4.00 refund on each two bag purchase. Love that. Ron got out all of the lawn furniture so I am hoping for a beautiful weekend. The kids and grandkids are all coming. Much excitement for me.
This afternoon I finished sewing the binding on my quilt and now have it pinned and ready to hand stitch the border. What a great feeling of accomplishment. I bet sister, Fran, will not love my corners. Hopefully they will improve as I get more practice. Now I have called it to everyone's attention.
I had lots of great calls today. My cousin, Rich, who is so good to keep in touch. Love that guy. I also heard from the Deys' and the Hock's who are some of our dear Texas friends. Father Larkin called to give me the scoop on the priest changes.
We ate an early dinner, leftovers, because we have someone coming to give us an estimate on the bathtub. I cannot wait until it is finished. It drives me nuts just thinking about it.
We have heard that one of our favorite priests is leaving our parish and we will be getting someone new this summer. We are so sad to see Fr. Lynn Bruch leave - he is awesome and will be misssed by many.
God is so good to us.

Errand Day
Today was a day for running errands. We had an appointment at the bank and then planned to change doctors for Ronnie, renew our cel phone plan and then stop at the ever popular Target store for a few necessary things. Well, I like to say it is necessary but maybe we could live without a few of them.
We did complete most of the stops but the best part is that you cannot renew your cel phone plan if you did not bring your cel phone with you. I never leave home without my cel phone and I actually remembered it before pulling out of the driveway but chose not to go back in and get it. I am thinking that I may be in need of some memory teasers. Oh well, we will be going back to town on Friday. Maybe we will take care of it then or maybe not.
We are having meatloaf for dinner tonight. I thought we better get some of that winter foods in before the weather really warms up.
Heading down to finish sewing the binding on my quilt. I love it.

Time Marches On
It's kind of interesting to think about how a house changes as events occur and time moves forward. The rooms take on a new purpose and meaning as the years go by.
What used to be an open basement, used by small children as a playroom, eventually became a bedroom and family room. Mother nature changed all that a year and a half ago.
That same space is now used as a multi-bed sleeping area and what used to be a bedroom will become the "sewing/quilting" area - a nice big space to be creative and enjoy a new hobby.

I am moving things in the basement. There will soon be a quilting room down there. I worked on a couple of quilts while we were in Texas this winter and I am ready to put the finishing touches on one. I really love quilting and hope to do more of it when that retirement date arrives. I think I will start posting my quilts here as I finish them.
Retirement
This year I will retire from my job at Target. Ron has been waiting for a few years for me to make this decision. I plan to use this blog to remind myself of all the fun that the two of us have together. After 40+ years we still enjoy each others' company - most of the time :).I AM ready.
We have purchased a place in the Rio Grande Valley and that is where we plan to spend the coldest part of our winters. We love it and have already made some great friends.
