My new favorite salad

The tomatoes are coming on quickly so we are enjoying them at most meals. Here is my new favorite salad. It is made up of spinach, tomatoes, red onions, green pepper, olive oil, feta cheese, pepper and basil.
We had a quick visit from the Omaha Buck's. They arrived last night and left after dinner this evening. It was great to have them come and help us take our minds off the happenings of the last week.
Last night we just spent time visiting and today we went to town for some school supplies and a few caches. The time went so fast but as always we enjoyed every minute that we could.

The MRI is done and now we will wait and see what the results are. I will see Doctor Adams on Thursday. Trust in God.

Ronnie got a couple of pictures of each of me today that were unexpected.
These are of me fighting the mosquitoes for a couple of tomatoes.

The Bucket List

This past week has been really crazy. I went back to the doctor after my stay in the hospital. Everything seems to be going well but they do want to do an MRI of my abdomen. It was scheduled for Wednesday but the machine was not working and I was rescheduled for today. The machine is still not working and now I am hoping for tomorrow. I do have an appointment to go to Doctor Adams again next Thursday and I hope to be able to say that I have had my MRI and that I am released from care.
This week has also brought hard rain. I think we have had close to 10 inches in that last week. Not good - the town drains would not hold it and so we have had up to 5 1/2 inches in our basement. It is now down to about 3/4 inch but more rain in the forecast for tomorrow.

All of these things have caused us to think about the years that we have left and what we hope to accomplish and the fun and relaxation we are hoping for during this time. This is where the bucket list comes in and we plan to add to it as we go.
1. Visit every county in Iowa. We have of course been through most of the counties but to actually say we know what is there - not so much. We are getting ready for an adventure.

A week with Joe and Sam

What a fantastic week we had with our two oldest grandsons. They are really young men now. They were very concerned about making sure Grandma did not do too much after bout with illness. They wanted to help us both with anything we would let them do. Too bad the mosquitoes were so bad because we would have loved to get some painting done with two such willing helpers.
We did go to Target a couple of times. This was always a reason for a soda or Starbucks. There was time spent wondering around the mall. Sam spent quite a bit of time with his skateboard and we did take a few bike rides(Grandma is back on her game).

I let Joe practice his driving here in town and we also drove up to the cemetery where he could drive in big circles. The last day I let him go a mile on the blacktop. He is a pretty good driver so far.

I had just cleaned our basement and came across a lot of old 33 RPM records. We spent some time listening to music from the Beatles and Peter, Paul and Mary. Amazing how much they seemed to enjoy that. We watched the movie "Pink Panther 2" the last night while we ate popcorn and M&M's.
It was a great summer of family time and this was a great note to end it on. We have been blessed with a wonderful family.

Besch Blast 2010

We spent the last weekend in July in Black River Falls, WI. This year David Besch hosted the Besch Blast and it was a beautiful place. The Buck family + Fran shared a cabin with 2 bedrooms and a loft. We had a total of 8 beds. Dan, D'Lynn, Sam, Will and Anna shared the loft. Craig, Cindy, Katie and Isabel shared the bigger bedroom and Ron and I and Fran shared the final bedroom. Joe, #1 grandson, was supposed to be with us but he ended up sharing a cabin with the other teens. It was a fantastic cabin and led right to Serenity Lake.
We spent most of our time at the biggest cabin where everyone gathered, meals were shared, games were played and camp fires and sing alongs took place. One of the hightlights of the trip was Mass on Saturday night by the lake with Father Bleich. Of course we did squeeze in a little caching while we were there. TFTC Fran, Dan and Ron.

Great food

I felt such love and joy with these people and it was exactly what I needed after the week I had spent recovering from the illness that put me in the hospital.
