I am signed up to receive my first Social Security check on January 13. I am sure that I am not old enough for that yet but don't tell them.
Yesterday Ronnie and I went to JFK Memorial park and walked around the entire lake. It took us a long time but we did spend a lot of time geocaching, taking pictures and just enjoying the weather and the scenery. We were not aware that there was a Veteran's Memorial Area there. It was very nice.

Wow, lots of goodies in this cache!

What a great day we had. On the way home we stopped at the orchard and picked up some peaches. We were planning to get apples but the kind we wanted were not ready yet. Today I baked a peach pie. We will have some with ice cream a little later in the evening.
Tonight we took a little walk and went to Ferrin Park (here in town) to put out a new travel coin in our geocache. It is really fun to see where they travel to.

Rainy days and Mondays always get me down. Wow it is just one rain storm after the other today. Ron just said it was 2 years ago tomorrow that we had the big flood. I sure don't want to think about that. It just started pouring again.

We are home and have stocked up on groceries, cleaned house, and did a few odds and ends jobs this week. Yesterday I got my hair cut and colored by Peggy Bunker. It feels and looks much better. Before the hair process we went to lunch at a local pub and restaurant called Lefty's. The food was very good and the visit with an old friend even better.

Today Ronnie is going to get the oil changed in the van and we are going out for dinner with our Moorland friends.

Moving Week

After the Omaha Bucks left we took off for West Des Moines to finally help Cindy and Craig move to Waukee. We left Moorland on Monday, August10, helped a little at their old house and then we all went to the Residence Inn for an overnight stay. Katie stayed in Grandma and Grandpa's room. She was such a big girl.

Monday night we had a call from one of our Texas friends, Marilyn from Buffalo, New York. Really nice to hear from her.

Tuesday morning we got up and Cindy and Craig headed off to sign the papers for the old and new place. Ronnie and I went to the old house and spent a lot of the morning overseeing the movers. Eventually everything was loaded and we all went to Waukee to start unpacking. D'Lynn and Joe came for the day to help us. Much needed help I would say. We spent the rest of Tuesday trying to put things away and just put up beds so we would be able to sleep that night. Super good pizza and chicken from Pizza Ranch for dinner tonight.

Wednesday Cindy had to go back to school. The rest of us had assigned jobs around the house. Lots of unpacking boxes in the kitchen and master closets for me. We were all exhausted by night and more then ready for a good night's sleep. Went out to Tres Los Amigos for a fantastic Mexican spread and delicious Margaritas.

Thursday brought lots of laundry and straightening in the family room in the basement. I fixed a pasta, garlic bread and ceasar salad for dinner. It was pretty nice to just stay in and eat. Cindy had to work until 8pm and Craig took Katie to her preschool open house tonight. That left Grandma and Grandpa and Izzie for some bonding and a lot of giggling. Had DQ tonight before bed. Yummy.

Friday we went with Craig to do a little Target shopping and then we headed to Moorland. It was a great week but we were exhausted after all of the activity of the past two weeks. Looking forward to some time at home alone.
