Happy haircut to me. I went for a visit with Jody today and got my hair trimmed. Feels better as it needed to be shaped.

Was in the sewing room this morning for awhile. I found a quilt block that I think was my Mom's. It is not finished and as a matter of fact the needle was still in it. I squared it up and plan to finish it. I am going to have Dick Silvey make me a frame and eventually hang it in my quilting room. Ronnie did a little painting with kilz in the sewing room and a couple of spots in the kitchen today. We are getting ready for our big painting project.

My new cell phone arrived yesterday and I got the nerve to program it today. It is up and running and I actually tried to text. It will be fun to play with.

Late this afternoon I decided to clean under the sink in the master bathroom. What a mess. I had things that may have been there since the early 90's. They are not there anymore. :)

We grilled pork burgers and I made a salad and had some fresh watermelon for dinner tonight. It was yummy. Now everything is cleaned up and I am ready for my daily dose of General Hospital.

We started the day today with a visit from Laufersweilers Funeral Home. We did some pre-planning and now we are going to decide if we want to prepay or leave money in an annuity. Lots to think about on those things.

The day started off very hot and humid but turned very stormy by early afternoon. There was actually a tornado warning for Webster and Calhoun counties. It got very dark and the sky looked pretty bad. We were lucky and ended up with just strong winds and quite a rain.

We finally made it to the grocery store and stocked up for awhile.

All and all a pretty quiet day.

My first day of retirement. Up at 7:30AM and off to the kitchen to make Apple Muffins. Joyce and Dick came for coffee and muffins at 9:00AM. We had a great visit. Joyce and I had a lengthy conversation about quilting and Ron and Dick just talked about guy things.

Later in the morning I started dusting in our bedroom. It turned into a dust everything from the mop boards on up. I also cleaned our bathroom from top to bottom. There were a couple of Longaberger baskets that contained things like cosmetics that I am ashamed to say were pretty disgusting. Glad to have that job done. It is very warm today with high humidity so we are waiting until evening to go out and do a little yard work.

Oh did I mention that we took a little nap this afternoon? I really did not work that hard but the nap was nice.

We missed Joe around here today. The three of us met my cousin, Rich Dean, and headed to St Paul, Minnesota to a 50's and 60's car show on Saturday. We had a great time but Joe and I got tired feet. A great time was had by all.

Today was Mary's last day to arise at 3:30 AM and get ready to be at work by 4:00. Coffee and purse in hand she is headed out the back door with a big smile on her face. The rest of the summer, seasons of 2009 yet to come and the rest of her life are now hers to do whatever trips her trigger. Congratulations Honey!

A special little gifts from some special friends.

We are having a great week. The boys had their annual camping weekend at Dolliver Park and the girls spent the weekend in Moorland. A good time was had by all.

Joe stayed on with Grandma and Grandpa this week and he has been helping us complete some much needed chores. He is earning hours for Confirmation and we are sure benefiting from that. While the boys were camping last weekend a guy came by and cut down a tree in our yard that was nearly dead. He only charged $100.00 but we must move the debris. Joe has been helping with that between rain showers. He has also done a little raking and traveled with us to Plover where he helped clean up some very old grave stones that were not very legible because of moss and fungus growing on them. That was a pretty big job but it is much easier to read some of the stones of Ronnie's ancestors. Much appreciated.

We had a nice visit from Mary Jane this week. On Wednesday we had dinner with friends at Olde Boston. Great time was had by all.

Yesterday one of my friends from work gave me a retirement card and some cash for a meal out with Ronnie. Today two of my friends took me to lunch at the Sport's Page and gave me some gifts and a big cookie shaped like a heart that said "Happy Retirement". I told them that I hope they will still call for lunch once in awhile. That is something that I will miss. Some dear friends. Tomorrow is my last day to work. It will be strange but I am looking forward to all of the things that I have promised myself and Ronnie and my family that I will be doing. I am so blessed to have so much.
