A visit from the Omaha Buck's

This weekend Dan and the 4 children came for a visit. D'Lynn spent the weekend with her sister getting ready for the arrival of a new niece in the Seier/Gannon/Green family.

Dan arrived on Friday night and we all visited until nearly midnight. Fun to catch up on what is happening in the families. Everyone always has something to share and it is just a great time.

Saturday morning we got up and had french toast for breakfast. It seemed to be a great hit. We then packed a picnic lunch and headed to Twin Lakes for a day of caching and just good old outdoor fun. We did find 15 caches that day all around the lake.







It was great fun and when we got home Dan took the boys for some baseball at the old Moorland diamond "Play Ball". Anna had a bike ride and I got dinner ready. After dinner there was a race to be watched and for those not interested there was TV in Grandma and Grandpa's bedroom or fun on the computers. I can't forget that we had Root Beer floats before bed. It is a favorite thing at Grandma Buck's house.

Sunday morning it was Mass in Moorland. The men's choir sang and it was very enjoyable. We then headed to Fort Dodge for breakfast and about an hour of playing pool, darts, etc. in the game room at Olde Boston. After that we came home and took advantage of some more beautiful weather by playing more ball at the park and just walking around and a little bike riding. I fixed a little lunch and off they went in the early evening. What a great time we had.

Easter Weekend

We had a great weekend in Waukee with our family. We went to Cindy and Craig's on Friday afternoon. We were able to get to Adel before school was out and I got to go with Cindy to pick up the Carlson girls. They were pretty excited to see their granny. Even Izzie wanted me to carry her to the car. That brings a happy face to this Grandma!
Friday evening we went to Mickey's Irish Pub in Waukee and I would recommend it to anyone who is near by. Lots of feel of an Irish pub.
Saturday morning we got up and did a little cooking. Soon the Omaha Bucks arrived and there was even more fun with children and grandchildren. Those 4 kids are getting so grown up and the little girls adore them. We celebrated Katie's birthday Saturday evening with gifts and pizza and chicken from the Pizza Ranch. The broasted chicken there gives Tom Thumb a run for their money. Next came the ice cream birthday cake Yummy......

Following dinner D'Lynn and Annie stayed with the little girls and the rest of us went to the Easter Vigil. It was a joyous occasion with the beginning of the new church year and the baptisms and receiving of the new members into the church. We walked back to the font to watch the adult baptisms and I think it was the first time some of the boys had seen baptism by submersion. I love when the lights come on and Lent is done. I smiled and said to Will "Lent is over" and he gave me a big smile back.
Sunday morning D'Lynn and Anna went to Mass and then we started to prepare our Easter dinner. The children had an Easter egg hunt in the front yard and then the chocolate eating began.

Dinner turned out to be a delicious meal and a great time. Thanks for the fun Carlson's and Buck's. Everyone headed home late Sunday afternoon.
I almost forgot to mention that there was quite a bit of geocaching that went on. On Saturday, Dan, Craig, Will, Joe, Ronnie and I went caching around Waukee and grabbed 7. There was a few disapointments as several caches seemed to be missing.
Sunday on the way back to Moorland, Ronnie and I grabbed 6.

Yesterday we went geocaching. We had a great time on a beautiful day. The temps reached the upper 80's. We were planning to do the whole Fort Dodge Nature Trail Series (5 caches). Guess what? We have to go back.
We found the first two very quickly and then it seemed like #5 was the next closest. We looked so long and never found it. I cut my leg on a barbed wire fence and scratched my arm of a prickly bush getting there. We looked longer then you should ever look for one cache and I ended up getting overheated. I thought I was not going to make it the 2 miles out of there.
Ronnie took the hard way out to get back to the car, and I went through Snell park because I needed to go to the bathroom. Bathrooms locked. LOL. I was dancing by the time he picked me up. I felt pretty sick by the time we got home.
Note: Always read the clues for the cache before you leave home. When we read about #5 it said it is not here but there are clues in the other 4 caches that will tell you where it is.




After caching we came home, showered, went to Olde Boston for dinner and then to Holy Thursday Mass at Corpus Christi. Beautiful service.

This morning we had coffee with the Silvey's at their house and Joyce baked a delicious coffee cake. Yummy food and great company.
I had lunch with Cleo and Tina. It was great to catch up with the two of them. Lots of things going on for all of us so there was plenty to talk about.
This afternoon Ronnie and I took a bike ride - my first time on my new bike and it was great. Wish I would actually say "let's take a bike ride everyday". Probably not going to happen but it was a beautiful day and we really enjoyed it.

Spring has sprung in Iowa

Wow this is a great day. I just hung clothes on the line and the breeze is blowing and it is warming up. Today we are supposed to have a high in the low 70's. The flowers have started to bloom and Ronnie has started leveling off the mountain in the front yard and digging up a few bushes and cleaned off a few flower beds. It is time to get close to Mother Earth again.






Yesterday I finally got the house cleaned and back in shape after being gone for the worst of winter. I am happy and loving being back in Iowa.
