Sitting Pretty

Our move to the new lot went very smoothly and actually a couple of days early. When the movers started to diassemble our "across the street" neighbors on March 3rd, part of the crew came over to our house and began removing our canopy and skirting also. That was last Wednesday. To make a long story short, we moved the same day.
By that evening we were in our new location and even hooked up to electricity, plumbing, and water. We were thankful to go to bed in our own house that night!
By Thursday evening we were all upacked, had everything back up on the walls and dishes and food back in the cupboards and pantry shelves.
On Friday morning the cement contractor was here with his crew. They dug out four inches of dirt for the driveway and the front of the house, got the forms all made, and the reinforcement wire laid down. Since they don't work on Saturday or Sunday the crew will be here tomorrow morning to pour the concrete.
Once the cement is set up enough to walk on, the moving crew will be back to reinstall the canopy and reattach the skirting around the house and deck.
Today Ron H and I went over to the old lot to dig up the post that supports our clothesline. It's all buried and ready to use.

  1. Amazing! They just pick you right up and move you over a block.
These pictures make your deck look really big...is it that big? I don't think I realized that.
    Looking good!

  2. It looks good. I am sure you are happy to be settled in your new location and new neighborhood. Thanks for sharing the pictures. It is amazing how they can do that. I assume you did not sustain any damage during the move.

  3. Fran, the move was actually so smooth that we had a vase of fresh flowers on the countertop and they did not move. It was amazing. We had our concrete poured today and hopefully in a few days we will have our canopy back up.

    Cindy, The deck is 10x14.

  4. There was also a one pint plastic bottle of water sitting on the countertop with just a couple of swallows of water left in it. After the move it was sitting (upright) exactly where it was before.
About the deck here, it is almost the same size, square footage-wise, as our deck at home.

  5. That is amazing. You would think that just getting the trailer to move would create some movement issues. I guess they really have it down to a science!
