We are home from our winter in Texas and we had a great time. On our way home we were able to stop in Omaha for a visit with Dan, D'Lynn and the wonderful grandchildren (that would be Joe, Sam, Will and Anna) who live there. What fun and we and they were so happy to be together.
On the weekend we headed to Waukee to see Craig and Cindy our sweet grandbabies(Katie and Isabel). Katie was celebrating her 5th birthday. We were joined on Saturday by the Omaha Bucks. We all went to dinner at a local Hibachi restaurant and really enjoyed the food and the company. While we were away the grandchildren grew so much and now there are two who surpass grandma in height. Oh my goodness.
We are planning a little excitement and adventure in our lives this summer.
Plan 1. After arriving home, we asked a local contractor, Don Ashenfelter, to come and give us an estimate on adding a garage and turning the original garage into a family room + utility room. We plan to move the furnace, water heater and washer and dryer into the utility room. Fred Moeller came on Tuesday to make sure that moving the furnace was a feasible option. It is.:) Perhaps we can beat up on that crazy water problem that we now have.
Plan 2. Get a realtor out here to give us an assessment on selling our house. If the price is right we will move on to plan 3. The realtor is coming this Thursday.
Plan 3. Look for a new place to begin our golden years adventure. We have already taken some steps in that direction. Friday we left for Waukee and spent the day looking at some places in that area. We looked at two 55+ communities. One was in West Des Moines and not exactly what we were looking for but still an option. The other was just outside Mitchellville, 6 miles east of Altoona, and was a beautiful place. We looked at three places here and loved the whole area but alas no garage. The search continues.
How exciting. I will be anxious to hear how this all plays out.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like things are moving forward. That's gotta feel good. Hopefully the decision won't be too difficult to make and you will both be happy with it. Love you!
