And So It's Finished

Our time left in Texas has dwindled to just one more day, the end of another winter in the valley. It has been a most unusually cool winter, but much milder than at home and we leave with mixed feelings. Ready to see our dear families again but sad to leave our friends and the laid back lifestyle.
The move to our new lot was finished as of last Saturday morning. The crew drove up at mid-morning to reinstall the skirting, giving our park model that "finished" look once again. If you didn't know it you'd think it has always been on this lot.

Under Cover

The movers returned Thursday to reassemble our canopy. The only thing left to do is put the skirting back, hopefully today. If not, maybe Monday. It is nice to sit under the canopy again and have the west side of the house shaded from the afternoon sun. Today we should be able to park the car on the new concrete.

Padre Visitors

Last Wednesday my cousin and his wife, who winter at South Padre Island, drove over and spent part of the day with us. They live in Loveland, Colorado. We drove down to Nuevo Progreso then came back to Donna and had some lunch. His mother, Aunt Alma, is my dad's sister. It is always nice to see them while we are here.

Concrete Evidence

The cement truck arrived Monday morning with a full load. By late that afternoon they had ours and our neighbors concrete poured, screeted, and trowled down to a nice smooth finish. We were able to walk on it the next morning. By late Friday we should be able to park the car on it.
Hopefully by the weekend the movers will have our canopy up and the skirting back on.

Sitting Pretty

Our move to the new lot went very smoothly and actually a couple of days early. When the movers started to diassemble our "across the street" neighbors on March 3rd, part of the crew came over to our house and began removing our canopy and skirting also. That was last Wednesday. To make a long story short, we moved the same day.
By that evening we were in our new location and even hooked up to electricity, plumbing, and water. We were thankful to go to bed in our own house that night!
By Thursday evening we were all upacked, had everything back up on the walls and dishes and food back in the cupboards and pantry shelves.
On Friday morning the cement contractor was here with his crew. They dug out four inches of dirt for the driveway and the front of the house, got the forms all made, and the reinforcement wire laid down. Since they don't work on Saturday or Sunday the crew will be here tomorrow morning to pour the concrete.
Once the cement is set up enough to walk on, the moving crew will be back to reinstall the canopy and reattach the skirting around the house and deck.
Today Ron H and I went over to the old lot to dig up the post that supports our clothesline. It's all buried and ready to use.
