A visit from Anna and Will

We were so lucky to have Anna and William come to stay for a few days. They were a great combination of visitors. The week was hot but there was not much complaining as we did our running around.

Sunday and Monday were shopping days. We had to get food for the week, a few personal treats and the necessary items for two movie nights. Great fun for Grandma and Grandpa as we never watch a movie when we are here alone.

Tuesday we spent the day with a picnic and a walk around the Grotto of the Redemption at West Bend, IA. They seemed to really get it this year for the first time and I loved their enthusiasm.

I can tell you that it was not all serious at the Grotto. Just take a look.

Wake up watchers.

Don't do it, Will.

Give them 5, Grandma.

On Wednesday, the very hottest day of the year we spent the day inside with a couple of games - Sorry and Blockus. Wednesday night was movie night so we headed to Olde Boston for dinner and back to Grandma and Grandpa's for a showing of "Marley and Me". Saddest movie I ever saw and both kids and grandparents were crying by the end. Will did an excellent job as manager of the theater for the first time.

Thursday, we were able to spend some time outside. We took bike rides serveral times a day except on Wednesday. Thursday was the day that speedy Grandma lost control and took a spill and fell off her bike. Slow down Granny. I just picked myself up and went on. Luckily, no pictures of that event. Thursday night was movie night #2. Annie took charge and was so excited. She just ran around making sure it was all perfect. So cute. No one cried tonight as we watched "Old Dogs".

Friday, we headed to Des Moines to visit the science center and to meet Mom for the trip home. At the Science Center we met Cindy, Katie and Izzie. Everyone seemed to love the place and when Cindy and the girls went home we stayed awhile so the bigger kids could try a few more things.
